Reliable information is hard to come by online, and I started out by really thinking that all “alpha dog” training was trustworthy. After I found you, pup and I are both much, much happier. Emily, thank YOU for helping so many people to change their ideas on dog training! My rescue GSD x is nearly two years old and until last week we have never paid a cent towards dog training, we just follow you and your gang and apply positive techniques to achieve results. We are now in an advanced obedience class and everyone is amazed that we’ve never been to classes before! For future videos, I’d like to see: how to maintain a trick/obedience over time; how to troubleshoot if a training session isn’t quite working; how (besides crate training) your dogs can travel on planes… for a contest prize–I remember ages ago I think you gave some of your artwork. (Con’t) I gently call him to me and praise him and click and treat when I have his attention. He is never aggressive, just curious to meet THAT dog. He Just turned one. Do I just continue on this path and it will improve as it has been? or is there a better way?

My Boxer pup is …
My Boxer pup is lovely and we have such a good time. We have tried Rally-o, Frisbee, and are starting agility. He walks heavenly on a loose leash. We go to dog parks and he is pleasant and social. I click & treat him when he sees other dogs because he gets over excited only sometimes. I would love to just walk by someone with a dog and have him just show casual interest every time. Its every 10th or so dog he sees that he just MUST meet and lunges over at it.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage. We miss you. Nelson and Tilly are doing great off-leash in the TJ River Valley thanks to your home visit. However, we can’t take them together or they get into trouble. Nelson is still sometimes reactive to new LOUD people and other dogs. He is excellent with horses. When he sees one, he returns to Glen and walks closely at his side. Miss you. mcrooks

Would like to see more about shy reactive dogs. Also about calming dogs and reading dog body language. So many owners seem unable to understand what their dogs are trying to say. Really enjoy the trick tutorials and all puppy and dog training advice. Positive reinforcement is wonderful. Congratulations on your marriage.

tips for shy & …
tips for shy & reactive dogs would be a real help for me. I teach a lot of things to my dog and she responds well but she’s still really reactive until she calms down (which can take a while), or shy/scared of people that come over ect. I also find because she’s reactive rather that just curious or something it takes more time to teach her things with objects & new places.

I have a baby Boston named Yoda who is six weeks old and want to start training without choke collars and pain aids. Your videos are inspiring to me. Emily, I’d just like to say thank you for your dedication and your letting people take part in your way of training via youtube. Your videos have had a great impact on my way of handling my first dog, a wonderful 14 months old BC who just loves to work on almost everything. Thank you! Personally, I love your “how to” videos and would like to see more on advanced tricks (e. g. backwards through legs, circle backward around me, jumps etc), as well as working with reactive dogs, and frisbee.
