    @Rienei Yes! All dogs can be trained using positive reinforcement :) Check out my website, it has all the videos listed by content and its easier to find what you need there rather than on youtube

    @kikopup The end …
    @kikopup The end result should look like the dog doesnt want to go to the hole anymore and instead stares at you for a treat.

  5. kikopup says:

    @kikopup Try to …
    @kikopup Try to have success every time. The try call aways from the hole itself while you are closer to your dog. If your dog doesnt come, DONT JERK but walk backwards with even pressure until your dog comes, never do that in a collar as you can hurt or choke your dog. Dont say anything just go back a step. Everytime your dog comes back to you, your dog gets a high level reinforcement and then is released to check out the hole. (try not to release to the hole in too exciting a way)

    @Sheriichi Proof …
    @Sheriichi Proof the recall with distractions- I almost made a video with a gopher hole! The thing was popping its head out and in of the whole, then I ran to get my camera and the darned thing didnt come out again! But this is def a video I want to make. Practice with a hole, have the dog on a HARNESS and longline, and call the dog when you are near the hole and can succeed, then get closer to the hole as you go.

    @kikopup oops! …
    @kikopup oops! Whatever the dog finds reinforcing! My dogs adore bread and kibble for some weird reason. splash is obsessed with cheese. Kiko and tug like meat, and trisch likes everything. For puppies I try to keep it super healthy, so use mainly boiled chicken etc

    @laurafeg Have the …
    @laurafeg Have the person who plays his owner make a connection with him, and give him treats whenever possible+ like when they go off stage- so he never knows when he might get a treat from her. You can teach him a cue- go to actor- with a release- free! that always pays off big time, so you can send him to the actor where he will walk next to or watch the actor and then have a cue to come away.

    @Tekhazai I figured these videos were long overdue! I got caught up in complex tutorial videos which I thought were fun, but then I realized there were no really good basic tutorials out there on the web!

    @SydsHere Try …
    @SydsHere Try turning sideways and putting the treats between your feet in front of you so that after a couple reps she will be anticipating the most reinforcing thing being at your feet. If she still keeps jumping at your face, then that means the treats are not as reinforcing as jumping so you will need to use better treats or make the recall low key- start out slow and then build up speed :)

    hi emily- i have a problem with my dog: she usually comes, but sometimes it happens that she finds something REALLY interesting (like a mouse-hole with a mouse in it) and then she looks at me when i call, but she doesn’t come.
    usually i just call again and then walk away and sooner or later she catches up, but i would really like her to come immediately, in case there’s another dog/a child/tractor/..

    do you have any suggestions on how to make myself more interesting than the mouse hole? :D

    Hey Emily! I am a big fan of yours, and have raised my Chihuahua, Kaiser, using all positive reinforcement and your videos as an example. Kaiser was recently asked to play Bruiser in the Legally Blonde musical at our local college. He can bark on command, is reliable off-leash, and is not distracted by crowds, and knows many other tricks. We will use targeting for the show using spike-tape. I need to give all direction from backstage with minimal vocal cues. Any advice? Thanks! -Laura and Kaiser

    Clicker training is a great method of teaching your dog new commands. I trained my 2 baby girls with this method.
